Ibstock West Hoathly ATR Second Brick
West Hoathly, nestling in the heart of Sussex, is famed for its character stock bricks, not just locally but throughout the country. Manufactured from local Wealden clays, West Hoathly bricks continue to be fired in traditional clamps; a method originally used for firing all stock bricks but largely now replaced by modern firing techniques.
Once the clamp has been fired, the bricks are sorted by appearance into the well-known stock bricks such as the Medium Multi and Sharpthorne Mixture.
Any bricks that cannot be sorted in this way are known as ATR or as they rise bricks and are a natural by-product of the clamp firing process.
The nature of the manufacturing process means that these bricks do not have square-edged arises and are never perfect in their uniformity, making them ideal for projects seeking a characterful look.
They are not specifically sorted for their appearance therefore we are unable to provide our standard sample boards. Please contact us for larger sample enquiries.
They are F1 rated for durability meaning they are moderately frost resistant and can be used between DPC and eaves in sheltered areas of the South East. It is not recommended that they are used in exposed applications such as boundary walls and chimneys. Ibstock offer a warranty period of 10 years if used within our outlined recommendations.
